The seed sown in November 1963 by Rev. Fr. Anthony Jansen, a Dutch Mill Hill Missionary started with 16 members and a total savings of CFA 2100 Frs. This has been nurtured by poor illiterate peasants to a 3612 membership and shares/savings worth more than 160 million for this mother credit union. This mother credit union has also given birth to over 200 credit unions found all over the national territory and to the giant micro finance in the Central African Sub Region; CamCCUL which started as the West Cameroon Credit Union league.
The year 1963 marked a triple event in Njinikom, the founding of the Njinikom Cooperative Credit Union as well as the St Anthony Hospital and St Bedes College.

The celebrations chaired on behalf of the Governor of the North West Region by the Inspector General of Regional Services; Mr MAKOGE Ivo Charles were attended amongst others by the representatives of the Minsters of Agriculture and Rural Development and finance and amazingly some phenomenal founding members such as;
The event proper punctuated by speeches, cutting of the anniversary cake and cultural displays saw artists like Ateh Bazor and Joe MBOLE raise everyone to their feet.
The surprise of the day as presented by the current President of CamCCUL; SHEY MOFOR NFOR was the unveiling of the counter on which the first CFA 2100 was collected.
On Saturday 30 November, delegates gathered in the Bamenda Congress Hall for the Celebrations of the 2013 World Credit Union Day under the theme "Credit Unions unite for Good, A better Way"
While the representative of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development promised the extension of the PADMIR project to the North West Region and eventually to the entire country, the representive of the Minister of Finance on his part announced the immiment closure of all illegal micro finance institutions. This in a bid to safeguard savings and finances of the poor masses.
BALICK AWAH Fedelis; Mayor of Bamenda II and coincidentally former president of CamCULL on behalf of the Government Delegate to the Bamenda City Council extended the warmth and friendship of the people of Bamenda to all present.
SHEY MUSA NFOR the current CamCULL president called on all to continue to believe in the Credit Union and know their neighbours. He assured all from examples that the credit union spirit shall continue to survive and expressed optimism with the coming of the Agrticultural Bank and extension of the PADMIR project to the entire territory.
The Govenor's representative underlined the importance of unity and cooperation among credit unions which is line with the policies of the Government of Cameroon and its illustrious Head of State. He also assured Credit Unionist of government's support.
Ceremony ended with the handing over of the certificates of recognition, donation of bikes by PADMIR to some credit unions and entertainment.
The two day celebrations were crowned with a gala in Ayaba in the evening of Saturday 30 November 2013.
