2013 Edition of the Agric Show NWR
The SG of MINADER has called on farmers of the North West Region to form Cooperative Unions and to take advantage of the agricultural potential of the region.

The Secretary General of MINADER, Mr EKO'O AKOUAFANE Jean Claude was speaking during the 2013 agric show and trade fair which took place at the Big Mankon Cathedral.

The Secretary General further enjoined the North West populace to consume what they produce as it will create wealth and improve livelihood.
The Secretary General at the North West Governor's Office who represented the Governor on his part called on farmers to reserve stock for the unexpected such as climate change and natural disasters.

The farmer's Representative,KUH  Emmanuel highlighted some problems faced by farmers such as; high cost of farm input, lack of storage facilities and poor state of farm to  market roads.

He disclosed the expectations of farmers which comprised of; quality control of farm equipment, provision of irrigational skills, the need for more staff to follow up farmers and the reduction of farmer-grazier conflict.

While decrying the shift in climate change which is manifested by global warming, the Regional Delegate of Agriculture and Rural Development for the North West prescribed the use of adapted crop species which can stand drought, conducting research to come up with adapted crop seeds and the need to avoid deforestation and soil burning.
The 2013 agric show was highlighted by the award of prizes to the farmers with the best crops as well as the donation of gifts to farmers who participated.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development donated 700 fertiliser  bags,100 wheel barrows,60 sprayers,50 water cans and 500 liters of insecticides while the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries, CDENO, MIDENO, UNVDA, Cameroon Tea Estate and a host of others donated some farming inputs.
